What this site does not do

observer does not host, store, seed, or transmit any of the files described by the records it indexes. It does not operate a tracker. It does not run a BitTorrent client, join any swarm, or transfer file content to or from anyone. It does not store .torrent files.

What it does display, for some records, is a magnet link: a magnet: URI built from the info hash the crawler observed. A magnet link is a reference, not a file. Following one is something your own software does, on your own machine, at your own initiative.

The index is not curated

Records appear here automatically, without human review or selection. No person chooses what enters the catalogue, and its contents are simply a record of what was announced on the DHT while the crawler was listening. The only human decision is to hide a record, for example after a copyright notice or a report of other unlawful content. Nothing else is selected or removed by hand, and nothing here is endorsed, verified, recommended, or vouched for.

That has some concrete consequences:

• Names and metadata come from whoever created the torrent. They are frequently wrong, misleading, or deliberately deceptive.
• Records may describe material that is unlawful to download, distribute, or possess where you are. Some records are automatically classified into adult categories; others are unclassified and could be anything.
• Titles matched against a metadata catalogue are matched by software, and a match is a guess. A row labelled with a film's title is not a statement that the file is that film, or that it is lawful for you to obtain.

No warranty

This service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement. Search results, counts, and classifications may be incomplete, out of date, estimated, or wrong.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, torrents.observer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, from the content or accuracy of any indexed record, or from anything you do with information found here, including any use you make of a magnet link or of material obtained elsewhere as a result of a search performed here.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for your own conduct and for complying with the laws that apply to you. Copyright, and what you may lawfully download or share, differ from country to country. Finding a record here says nothing about whether acting on it is legal where you are.

Rightsholders

If you believe an indexed record refers to material that infringes your copyright, see our copyright and takedown policy. Because this site indexes metadata rather than hosting files, hiding the record here is the only action we can take, so that's what we do.
